Lahore: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) recently announced its decision to develop four new grid stations in the city to cope with its increasing domestic and commercial loads — a news source reported. As per the publication, the electric company additionally plans on alleviating its systemic constraints to optimal power delivery; which lead to consumers having to facing such issues as tripping, low voltage, and fluctuating electricity.

A senior LESCO official announced that there was a plan to build four 132kV grid stations at Barki Road, Wassanpura, Mehmood Booti, and Bhuptian on Raiwind Road. Reportedly, the load of an existing 11kV grid station would also be reduced in order to diminish the burden on other electric stations.

According to the information available, LESCO currently provides its services to over 4.5 million consumers over a vast area of Lahore and its neighbouring districts of Nankana, Sheikhupura, Okara, and Kasur, who all stand to benefit from this initiative.

LESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Pervaiz Chatha stated that the search for the land for the construction of the aforementioned grid stations had already been initiated. He added that LESCO was the only company that had managed to abolish its 33kV and 66kV grid stations and replace them with 132kV stations and that the construction of new grid stations would help LESCO provide an uninterrupted supply of electric power to a range of commercial and residential areas in Lahore city.
