Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the province’s sports, culture and tourism department, and asked for feasibility reports on all tourist spots in the region, according to news sources. As per the publication, the CM also directed the department to initiate the spring festivities by organizing a series of cultural activities and events across the province.

CM Khan said that these events would be a recreational opportunity for the province’s residents and would also help highlight the tourism potential of KP. He also approved of the provincial tourism authority’s decision to integrate the KP Integrated Tourism Enterprise Project (KITE).
Moreover, the CM issued directions for the department to ensure maximum utilisation of development funds to avoid any lapses. He also asked for development work to be expedited on the Arbab Niyaz Stadium so it can host next year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricket tournament.

The CM further directed the authorities concerned to launch a talent hunt, under-21 games and a national youth carnival immediately, and to identify tourist resorts for the summer season in the southern parts of the province.
In addition, the meeting was informed regarding the establishment of the KP Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA). The meeting was further told that the tourist facilitation spots in Peshawar, Malakand and Hazara divisions would become operational in the next season, and that construction of 15 access roads to tourist spots was currently in the tender phase.
