Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Saturday ordered the authorities concerned to initiate the development work of the CPEC City Nowshera project on an immediate basis, a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held to review progress of the housing department. He stated that the authorities concerned should deploy the required number of police personnel for the project’s security. To this effect, he approved the establishment of a police station for the CPEC City.

Senior government officials, including Minister for Housing Dr Amjad Ali, Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Akbar Ayub, senior member board of revenue, and secretary housing were all present at the occasion.

CPEC City Nowshera, which is a joint venture (JV) of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) KP, is expected to be constructed on 80,000 kanals of area.

The meeting was informed that PKR 700 million had been earmarked for the Naya Pakistan Housing Prgoramme (NPHP) project out of which PKR 200 million had been allocated for the current fiscal year.

The meeting was further informed about the development of flats for government employees at Phase-V Hayatabad, Peshawar, and that PKR 200 million had been allocated in the Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2019-20 for the project.
