Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has mandated the officials concerned to save the biometric verification records and photographs of property buyers and sellers taken during the land transfers registration process, according to news sources.
Islamabad Chief Commissioner Amer Ali stated that the officials concerned had installed as many as 34 cameras at revenue offices across the capital city to monitor the land transfers process and staff dealing in real-time.

He stated that this step would protect widows and overseas Pakistanis from fraudulent attempts and help the city administration identify corrupt elements in the system. He added that the department had taken a decision to reform its operations and ensure that no one is deprived of their land.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqat, during a press briefing, stated that an automated system of land transfer had been introduced by the ICT. He added that the registrar department had been linked to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and that pictures of both buyer and seller of the land will be saved at the time of land transfers.

DC Shafqat said that seven additional collectors had been hired to upgrade the revenue records and that revenue details will be digitised (with a budget of PRK 190 million) in two years.
He said that Islamabad encompasses 225,000 acres of land out of which 70,000 acres belong to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). He revealed that city administration had issued directions to the managements of housing societies to launch an online system for their record safekeeping.
Moreover, DC Shafqat revealed that the department had started receiving capital value tax after five years and expected to generate PKR 770 million by the end of the financial year.
