Quetta: The governing body of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has provided its approval to the Gwadar Master Plan draft, in addition to revising some aspects of the document, a news source reported.

Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan Alyani, who also serves as chairman of GDA’s Board of Governors, presided over a meeting to this effect. Moreover, he reviewed the progress in relation to town planning and regulations for the construction sector under the ‘Gwadar Smart City Master Plan’.
GDA Director General (DG) Shahzeb Kakar apprised the governing body regarding the proposed rules and regulations, along with other suggestions, related to fee rates and tax collection in the city. In this regard, the governing body issued orders to establish one-window operation cell for issuing licenses to private developers, as well as collecting registration fee and taxes from these individuals.
Also, during the meeting, the CM ordered the GDA to consider Gwadar as an international port city right from start of construction. Furthermore, he stated that the authority should ensure environmental protection and availability of energy resources when constructing the high-rise buildings.

Additionally, the meeting asked GDA to publish notices in newspapers and on its official website about the approved housing societies. These housing projects would now receive No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) under the amended master plan. GDA had previously issues NOCs to these societies as per the old Gwadar Master Plan. This measure would help the general public access information about the approved rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, the meeting also discussed the following points:
- Master plan includes land for each of industrial, housing, recreational, and trade sectors
- Heavy industries, small industries, and high-tech industries will have separate land provisions
- Master plan also includes transport system for which GDA will set up railway and bus stops
- Housing societies in Gwadar will receive the facilitation of access roads

On the other hand, the CM stated that the projects in Gwadar should be developed on public-private partnership basis. He added that this measure would help increase GDA’s resources.
