Islamabad: The Ministry of Maritime Affairs (MOMA) is expected to complete the Gwadar Eastbay Expressway project by next year, a news source reported. Additionally, MOMA will also establish a CPEC Support Unit (CSU) and Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure during the same time period.

The Gwadar Eastbay Expressway project will link the Makran Coastal Highway (N-20) with the Free Trade Zone of Gwadar Port. The 6-lane expressway, along with a 30 metres long railway corridor is expected to connect the port with the highway and provide a safe and smooth transport route.

Presently, the Gwadar deep seaport has one transit route for Gwadar town at the West-Bay, which is only 16-feet wide. The loaded trucks and trawlers utilize this route and often disrupt the usual traffic.

The purpose of establishing the CPEC Support Unit (CSU) is to execute projects and activities of the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA). On the other hand, the Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure would be tasked with carrying out the implementation of E-Commerce.
