Islamabad: The Ministry of Housing and Works recently announced its plan to utilize lands acquired by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) through the process of plea bargains, to construct residential housing schemes for government employees, a news source reported. As per the publication, a letter has been written to the law ministry asking for their approval in this regard.

The price of lands acquired through plea bargains is paid to the affectees of various illegal housing projects. Now, the Federal Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has suggested that all the lands acquired throughout the country through this method could be used to build the residencies of federal government employees.

FGEHA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Waseem Hayat Bajwa held a meeting with Director General Operations NAB and discussed in detail the use of lands acquired through plea bargains. Consequently, both parties agreed to use the said lands to develop housing schemes for federal employees.

According to reports, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Works have raised a few legal points. Accordingly, the FGEHA has written a letter to the Ministry of Law to review the matter and resolve all related issues in a timely manner.
