Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said in a statement that the government would support the Green Crescent Trust’s (GCT) campaign aimed at enrolling 4.2 million street children in schools, according to news sources.

He was attending the inaugural ceremony of an amusement park, arranged as a gala for students from remote sections of the province. The governor said that such initiatives should be supported in order to establish a welfare society in the country.
He offered to extend his full support to GCT for expansion of its network, saying that the government will support these initiatives for orphans and underprivileged children. Governor Ismail said that welfare-based education of these children is in line with the government’s vision that seeks to ensure even development in all parts of Pakistan.

GCT Zahid Saeed said that initiatives to support education can be launched under public-private partnership models. He opined that 4.2 million out-of-school was a worrisome figure for the government and that this situation can be neutralised through effective and transparent disbursement of budget allocation for the education sector.
