Multan: Deputy Commissioner and Parks and Horticulture (PHA) Director Amir Khattak on Thursday approved funds for the beautification, rehabilitation and maintenance of parks in the city, according to a news report. He provided his sanction to the issuance of PKR 60.2 million for the purpose during a meeting held in DC office.

PHA Engineering Director Mushtaq Khan, PHA Director Admin and Finance Robina Kausar, and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion. In the same meeting, the Multan commissioner also issued the directive to widen the walking track in Sallahuddin Park from the current five feet to eight feet and increase the track length. He also directed the officials concerned to set up a fountain and five gazebos in the park.

Commissioner Kattak further provided his approval for the up gradation of Shamsabad Park, for which the new design has already been forwarded to the consultant. The other parks that will be upgraded with the approved funds include Bagh Langay Park and Qasim Park.

In addition to these projects, the commissioner ordered the PHA staff to beautify greenbelts four ways in the city. He also directed his staff to focus on increasing PHA’s earnings.
