Multan: The Punjab government has expanded the Fort Monroe Development Authority (FMDA)’s operational scope and rebranded it as the Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority (KeSDA), in an attempt to further develop Dera Ismail (DI) Khan’s hilly terrain for the promotion of tourism — according to news sources.

A notification in this regard was issued after a legislation amendment was made to the FMDA Act 2016, modifying it as The Fort Monroe Development Authority (Amendment) Act 2019. The provincial cabinet had approved of the decision to change the FMDA’s name to Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority last year, and now it has been made official after the legislation was approved.

Under this development, areas of the Suleman Mountain Range, stretching from Baarhi (in Taunsa Sharif, Dera Ghazi Khan District) to Rojhan (Rajanpur District) will under the auspices of the KeSDA.
Fort Monroe sits about 6,470 feet above sea level and is southern Punjab’s only hill station, located 85 kilometres from city of Dera Ghazi Khan.
