Rawalpindi: District authorities have made it mandatory for all hotels and guesthouses in Murree to install firefighting equipment, in addition to providing rescue and firefighting training to their workforce, a news source reported. The officials concerned recently notified a five-point circular in their efforts to ascertain full proof security for families and tourists.

The assistant commissioner asked all the hotels and guesthouses to place their electric water geysers on the roof. He ordered full proof electric wiring, protected gas pipelines, and elimination of gas leakages and damaged wires. He also ordered that the overhead and underground water tanks should be made secure with proper entrance path in these utilities.

Further, the assistant commissioner has proposed setting up investigation teams comprising representatives from Rescue 1122 and the civil defence department. The teams would visit hotels and guesthouses to scrutinize if the orders have been acted upon and fine those heavily who fail to comply with the orders issued.
