Rawalpindi: The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department recently launched a divisional property value assessment survey in which new data is to be collected on all property units located within the Rawalpindi division to determine their appropriate tax rates, according to news sources.

The revised taxes will be levied based on the number of storeys in each property located in the Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock and Jehlum districts of the division. The field staff and officials of the department have been given directions in this regard. The assessment process will provide a database for the government to revise and raise the property valuation tables.

Director E&T (Rawalpindi) Mohammad Sohail Arshad said that the officials concerned have been directed to include all alterations and expansions made by property owners in the new property value assessment survey. He stated that owners of rental properties that have been falsely reported to be used for personal usage will also be brought under the tax net.
He added that during this new property value assessment survey, the owners of plazas and other commercial structures will be issued PT-10 forms and the complaints of the general public will be addressed as well.
