Multan: The Excise & Taxation (E&T) Department, during a crackdown launched on Tuesday, sealed more than 80 properties of tax defaulters in the city, a news source reported. The excise officials sealed shops, general stores and warehouses situated on Sui Gas Road, New Grain Market and Central Jail Road.

According to E&T official Niaz Dhaloon, the department recovered PKR 500,000 from several defaulters. He further stated that E&T Director Abdullah Khan had previously directed the officials concerned to launch the recovery drive.

The department had then formed several teams to take action against these defaulters. Excise department had already served final notices to these shops but they had not cleared their dues. The total pending amount that these defaulters had to clear amounted to PKR 30 million.
