Quetta: The European Union (EU) has agreed to provide funds worth EUR 40 million to support various clean drinking water/ potable water initiatives for the residents of Balochistan, according to news sources.

EU’s Ambassador to Pakistan Androulla Kaminara, during a convention organisation by Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), stated that the province was among the top priorities in the EU’s development programme in Pakistan. The estimated funding that EU is investing in various development programmes in Balochistan amounts to EUR 120 million.
The ambassador said that various social development programmes were on the cards for Afghan refugees and local communities. She lauded Pakistan’s contribution to accommodate millions of Afghan refugees.

Ambassador Kaminara assured the assemblage that the EU would offer full cooperation to rehabilitate provincial areas severely affected by the recent harsh snowfalls and torrential rains.
