Islamabad: The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department has initiated a drive to register real estate offices operating in the capital city in a bid to improve its revenue generation levels, according to news sources.
Director Excise and Taxation Bilal Azam said in a press briefing that in the initial phase of this campaign, offices in the sectors of the city were being registered; with some 900 real estate agents already registered with the department.

He also said that Islamabad Property Dealers Association President Sardar Tahir Mahmood had assured him that around 2,000 real estate offices would get registered under this drive. The Excise and Taxation Department will also conduct its own survey to identify the exact number of unregistered offices in the capital territory, he added.

He revealed that PKR 12,000 will be charged from the real estate offices for registration; which includes PKR 10,000 in terms of professional tax. A deadline of March 31 has been set for real estate agents to voluntarily register their offices or face legal consequences.
Additionally, the department urged people to get their real estate business registered with the government.
