Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Dr Sania Nishtar on Thursday stated that PM Imran Khan would launch the ‘Ehsaas Kifalat’ programme for seven million female beneficiaries on January 31, a news source reported.

She expressed her views on the matter at an event. She said that poor women would be provided with monthly cash transfers of PKR 2,000 instead of the previous quarterly disbursements under the Kifalat programme.

She added that the federal executive’s flagship Ehsaas Kifalat initiative would be implemented across the country in coordination with 34 government ministries, as well as the private sector.

Dr Nishtar stated that the BISP had reformed its cash transfer system and replaced it with a digital system to ensure transparency; in addition to signing various agreements with Bank Alfalah and Habib Bank Limited. Point of Sales (POS) are being increased to improve access to the programme, she further stated.
