Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s latest deadline extension for registering income tax returns for Tax Year (TY) 2019 is scheduled for expiration in a week’s time frame (on January 31).

The taxation agency has already offered multiple extensions (July 2, August 2, August 9, September 30, November 30, December 16, December 31 and January 31) for filing of Total Income /Statements of final taxation for Individuals and Associations of Persons for the Tax Year 2019, which were due on September 30, 2019.

The extension was prompted by the request of the Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) and the government later extended the last date for filing income tax returns of corporate and non-corporate sectors to assist the genuine taxpayers of the country.
According to the latest stats, the number of return filers has reached 2.2 million, which is still below the last year’s figure of 2.7 million people.
