Karachi: Sindh Chief Secretary (CS) Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has sought a compliance report on the implementation of a Supreme Court (SC) order for removing encroachments in the province, a news source reported.

While reviewing the progress on this matter in a meeting, he directed the officials concerned to strictly implement the court order. He further asked them to submit a compliance report in the orders for removal of encroachments to the provincial government and the apex court.

The CS said that the provincial government would not tolerate any illegal encroachment. He also issued orders for removing the names of private companies from traffic signboards.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani informed CS Shah that the relevant authorities had removed all encroachments from the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) track. He added that human settlements still remained on the bed of Malir River. He told the CS that they would inform the SC on this matter.

On the other hand, CS Shah directed the Secretary Transport to submit a departmental report on the operational plan of KCR. Furthermore, the Additional IGP Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon revealed that they had removed traffic police posts from the city’s footpaths.
