Multan: Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan, a senior judge of the Lahore High Court (Multan Bench), recently directed the city administration to implement the orders issued by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed regarding infrastructural improvements in the city, according to a news report.

The Justice made these comments during a meeting that was also attended by the Commissioner, District Commissioner, and the heads of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Multan Solid Waste Management Company.

During a previous visit, the CJP had expressed his dissatisfaction with the condition of roads and the parks in the city, and had instructed the authorities concerned to improve the situation on a priority basis.

Justice Khan followed up with the authorities and told them to plant trees and make streetlights functional. He also instructed them to create a comprehensive strategy to curb the cutting of mango trees and to plant shady tress in the city’s parks.

In addition, Justice Khan stated that all parks in Multan must be upgraded, and all encroachments from roads and markets removed. He gave a deadline of two months to the authorities to make these changes; as the CJP is due to visit the city at this time.
