Islamabad: Timesaco, a Chinese technology services company, recently announced its intention to invest USD 600 million in Pakistan’s transport sector, a news source reported. As per the publication, Timesaco Media Manager Asad Ullah stated that the firm was eager to restructure the country’s public transport segment to imitate the model in place in China.

Last year, the Chinese company had launched a transportation infrastructure network called ‘Tatu Mobility’ in the country to encourage e-transportation. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of ‘Tatu Mobility’ Donald-Li stated that the firm would offer various mobility facilities, such as pick and drop service, vehicle rental service, and a taxi-hailing service etc. to all citizens that require public transport — including government sector workers, private organisations, merchants, corporations, and individuals.

The CEO added that the company officials are expected to meet the provincial government officials in Karachi in the coming days, so as to formulate a strategy to introduce the service in the city by the end of February.
Presently, the ‘Tatu Mobility’ service is only available in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
