Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Thursday announced its decision to develop eight projects in the city, with an estimated cost of PKR 41.2 billion — a news source reported.

This information was revealed during a meeting of the CDWP that was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan. The meeting approved of six projects costing PKR 10.3 billion, and forwarded two projects worth PKR 30.86 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for appraisal.

The recently revised financial rules empowered CDWP to approve projects which cost less than PKR 10 billion, and recommend projects of higher estimated costs to the Ecnec after clearing them on technical grounds.

During the session, the CDWP considered projects related to Physical Planning & Housing, Energy, Transport & Communications, Science & Technology, and education. The projects are listed below:
Physical Planning & Housing
- Construction of 15 residences for senior police officers at Sector H-11, Islamabad at an estimated cost of PKR 151.971 million.
- Construction of four police stations in various sectors in Islamabad at an estimated cost of PKR 150.836 million.
Energy
- 220kV Haripur substation worth PKR 3.626 billion.
- Evacuation of Power from 330MW Siddiq Sons Energy Coal Fired Power Plant at Thar worth PKR 2.354 billion.
Transport & Communications
- Construction of Road from Sibi Talli (20 kilometres) and Kohala Rakhni (80 kilometres) at an estimated cost of PKR 4 billion.
- Construction of Lodhran-Multan Section (Northbound 62 kilometres) of N-5 and two Flyovers at Railways Crossing on Lodhran Bypass worth PKR 12.945 billion and referenced to the Ecnec.
Science & Technology
- National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (Necop) Phase-1 worth PKR 17.92 billion and recommended to the Ecnec for approval.
