Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan has issued directions to the civic agency to procure its own tree transplant machine, according to news sources. To this effect, CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmad has directed the authority’s development team to ensure that no trees were cut down for construction projects in future.

These directives were issued when Special Assistant Ali Nawaz and Chairman Amer Ali Ahmad were visiting the construction site of Sector G-7 and G-8 underpass project.
Awan said that for the construction of this underpass, pine and other large trees were being transplanted by a machine loaned from the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). He stated that the preservation of trees was a laudable initiative; adding that the agency should have its own machine.

While talking about the scope of the development work, Amer said that this G-7 and G-8 underpass project was expected to be completed within two months. To this effect, he directed the authorities concerned to finish the development work on one side of the underpass to facilitate vehicular movement on a priority basis.
He said that the civic agency was in talks with the Ministry of Climate Change over the proposed expansion of Attaturk Avenue. The officials further issued instructions for carrying out landscaping and plantation along the Kashmir Highway
