This ban is another attempt to reduce the near-lethal impact of single-use plastic bags on the environment. Previously, the Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul had said that this ban was aimed to rid the national marketplace of an estimated 55 billion bags annually and pave the way for a ‘greener’ country.
