Karachi: The federal government has released the entirety of the budgetary amount allocated for the Green Line Bus initiative for the current fiscal year; in order to meet its commitment to inaugurate the project by the coming month — a news source reported.

According to the figures released by the authorities concerned, the federal government has released PKR 2.7 billion for the purpose and it plans on launching the project in February later this year. Earlier, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail had announced that the project would be inaugurated on February 7 by Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.
The venture had originally been launched during the tenure of the previous government, with the Green Line project’s total cost expected to be around PKR 24.604 billion. The project was the result of a collaboration between the federal and provincial governments, with the aim to improve the public transport infrastructure in the city.
