Karachi: The Sindh government and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to introduce an online system for the same-day issuance of computerised birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates from all union councils/committees, according to news sources.

The ceremony was held at the Sindh Secretariat and the agreement was signed between Local Government (LG) Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh and NADRA (Sindh) Director General. The provincial minister spoke at the occasion and said that Sindh would be the first province to launch such an upgraded system for the issuance of computerised certificates.
The local government secretary stated that this data system would be accessible to the minister, secretary and other district officials. He said that this data would also be used to verify the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) of an applicant and would alert the system in case of any discrepancies.

The secretary was of the opinion that this system will make the certificate issuing process more transparent and will help curb other erroneous practices as well.
