Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has notified the eighth extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year (TY) 2019, according to news sources. To this effect, the taxation agency has stretched the last date until February 28.

According to the announcement, the date of filing total income/statement of final taxation of individuals and associations of persons for TY 2019 has been extended till February 28. The deadline for filing returns for companies, which have paid 95% of their admitted tax liability on or prior to the original deadline (September 30, 2019), has also been stretched to February 28.

Previously, the government had announced its decision to extend the deadline for filing tax returns till January 31. So far, the FBR has granted a total of eight extensions to facilitate the taxpayers. The tax authority hopes to add four million individuals to its ‘Active Taxpayer List’ (ATL).
Moreover, the taxation agency had announced its receipt of 2.51 million tax returns for TY18 as against 1.49 million returns filed for TY17.
