In recent news, it has been revealed that the ministry of planning is planning to set up a construction industry development board aimed at promoting investment opportunities throughout the country, and to establish a one-window facility to facilitate the stakeholders as well.
The construction industry development board will have several authorities. These will include indicating construction standards and keeping a list of construction professionals. This is expected to help maintain quality standards pertaining to performance and services.
The board may have an executive council – comprising 16 members. This will also include a chairperson nominated by the incumbent prime minister. This individual will be specifically from the private sector.
On the other hand, some experts believe that the formation of this construction industry development board may lead to cartelization of the construction sector.
Let’s see if the proposed bill will be accepted or not.
