Consumer rights’ court, district and session judge has finally decided to take notice of illegal housing scams for looting people for millions. The judge has instructed imc, rda, cantonment board to launch a grand scale crackdown on these fake societies to seal them, or to get them registered. Societies that are legal but do not follow sops will also be brought to the axe.
Wow. I mean didn’t the supreme court gave similar warnings? Will consumer court succeed where supreme court hasn’t? Can someone just make a public list to let people know which societies are safe? The govt websites aren’t exactly ‘user-friendly’ or clear about these matters.
The irony is that SC Employees Cooperative Housing Societies itself is a scam, these are just time to time reminders to justify monthly paid jobs. If MR could get a clean chit with just 460 bn, smaller ones have a role model to follow…
Didnt know about the Supreme Court Employees Cooperative Housing Societies. What happened there? Also, Malik Riaz and Bahria Town is peoples’ fault too. They still would invest in him. Housing mafia needs stronger law enforcement and not just warnings. What do you say?
It is a good point to raise that people keep investing in Bahria projects despite knowing the controversies. I think the problem is that BT provides such quality and attractive features in its projects that most people don’t actually give it a second thought about how they actually came into being. So yes, we do need a special law enforcement system for real estate, plus a body that actually truly exposes the corruption, and negative societal impacts of such controversial projects.
