First Episode – Iftikhar Durrani
Zameen.com recently interviewed Mr. Ifthikhar Durrani, who serves as the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan, to get his perspective on the government’s flagship housing project, the “Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.”
“Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme is the future of Pakistan,” Mr. Durrani said of the project at the beginning of the interview. He went on to appreciate the initiative taken by the current government to build 5 million houses, which will facilitate people who are unable to afford proper homes.
While explaining the founding principles of the NPHS, he said, “It is (based) on a two-tone strategy that you involve the private sector to build houses for them (people) and it is an international model, which carried out in Malaysia, Singapore and Turkey.”

More About Iftikhar Durrani
Iftikhar Durrani heads the Central Media Department of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He also holds experience in leading the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as an Advisor on Communication back in 2013. Mr. Durrani also served as the CEO of National Trust for Population Welfare and has an experience of working with many National and International NGOs.
Second Episode – Zaighum Rizvi
Mr. Zaighum Rizvi appeared in the second installment of Zameen Interviews web series. As an expert on low-cost housing projects, he effectively elaborated on the reforms that could make a difference in Pakistan’s real estate sector.
Explaining how high-rises can benefit a megalopolis like Karachi, he said, “High-rise is a better use of land (available) or what you call densification.” According to Mr. Rizvi, building more vertical structures is the only way the city can maximize the use of available urban land.

More About Zaighum Rizvi
Mr. Zaighum Mehmood Rizvi is currently leading the 17-member task force assigned by the Prime Minister of Pakistan to oversee the progress of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme, which is a government’s flagship real estate development. He has held various significant positions in many public/private sector companies. Mr. Rizvi also served as an Advisor to the State Bank of Pakistan and as CEO of the House Building Finance Corporation.
Third Episode – Mehmood-ur-Rashid
Another key political figure, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid, sat down with Zameen.com and talked about the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. He significantly supports and appears to be quite optimistic about the completion of NPHS while sharing his expert real estate advice. This housing programme is being carried out on a national level to benefit the common man, as well as Pakistan’s real estate industry, by improvising the concept of affordable housing options in the country.
Praising the dedication level of Prime Minister towards the NPHS, he said, “Ever since Imran Khan became the prime minister of Pakistan, he has chaired more than a dozen meetings himself in which he made the task forces (on Federal and Provincial level) to closely monitor the progress of NPHS.”

Mian Mehood-ur-Rashid currently holds the Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering of Punjab. In his political career, he remained an active member of Punjab Assembly for three terms. Furthermore, he also played a significant role as the Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly between June 2013 and May 2018. He also has an experience of serving twice as Mayor of Lahore.
Fourth Episode – Imran Ali Khan
The latest episode of Zameen Interviews features Mr. Imran Ali Khan, who is the CEO of Emerging Markets Property Group (EMPG), which oversees a number of property portals across the world, and co-founder of Zameen.com.
In his interview, Mr. Khan enlightened the audience with his expert opinion on the latest real estate reforms and developments undertaken by the incumbent government.
Mr. Khan, while expressing his optimistic approach on Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme, said, “If they manage to build 1 million houses in 5 years that would be a good start.” He also emphasized on the depoliticization of the system.
“If a department fails in any company or any government, it fails because it neither has a system nor a process,” Mr. Khan explained. “I personally feel e-governance should be greatly invested in. It will bring transparency, which everyone will be able to witness. If someone is submitting an application or a complaint, you can see the entire process. All these things can be measured,” he added.
