Tharparkar is one of the most important districts of Sindh like Thatta, Badin, Larkana, etc. The word Tharparkar means “crossing over sand.” It comprises two words: “thar,” which comes from “thul,” which means sand ridges and “parkar” means “crossing over.” Spreading over 4,894,663 acres, the region has a diverse population in terms of culture, religion, and ethnicity.
Mithi is the capital of this district and it is situated across Mithi Bypass and Islamkot Road. It’s home to ‘Gaddi bhit’, the highest sand dune in the city.
Thar Desert stretches to the east of Pakistan, over 50,000 sq-kms, and connects the borders of India and Pakistan.
Please remember Thar Desert Paksitan is an under-developed area of Sindh so there aren’t any major fast-food joints or fine-dining restaurants providing meals. There are a limited number of hotels and guest houses operating in the area.
