Requirements for Vehicle Registration in Pakistan: Locally Manufactured and Imported Vehicles

First of all, let’s take a look at the requirements of the scenarios of registration and sale of locally manufactured vehicles by the original purchaser. 

Requirements for the Registration of Locally Manufactured Vehicles

• Application for registration of Vehicle – Form-F
• Copy of Computerised National Identity Card of Owner
• Original Sales Certificate of Vehicle
• Original Sales Invoice of Vehicle
• Payment of registration fee, number plate fee and other leviable taxes

Requirements for the Sale of Locally Manufactured Unregistered Vehicles

• Application for Registration of Vehicle – Form F
• Copy of Computerised National Identity Card of the Seller 
• Original Sales Certificate of Vehicle
• Original Sales Invoice of Vehicle
• Payment of vehicle registration fee, number plate fee and other leviable taxes
• Transfer Order (TO) Form
• Documents showing sale of vehicle by original purchaser
• Copy of National Identity Card of the new purchaser

• Copy of Invoice (In case of direct purchase from manufacturer)

• Application for Registration of Vehicle in Form-F
• Copy of National Identity Card of Owner (In case of individual)

• Copy of Import Permission issued by Customs Authorities

Transfer of Ownership of a Vehicle

• Transfer Order (TO) Form
• Photocopy of Seller’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
• Photocopy of Purchaser’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
• Photocopies of Witnesses
• Original Registration Certificate containing update payment of Token Tax
• Original Motor Registration File in case of vehicles registered under the “File Return Scheme”
• Duplicate Registration Certificate (if the original one is misplaced)
• Application in Prescribed Form

Transfer of Vehicle’s Ownership Fee

Requirements to Acquire a Duplicate Registration Certificate

In case, your original car registration certificate has been misplaced, stolen, damaged or torn, you need to fulfil the following requirements for the issuance of a duplicate certificate.

• First Investigation Report (FIR) fetched from a local police station
• Photocopy of Applicant’s CNIC
• Updated Token Tax Certificate in case of Non-Tie-up vehicles (except Motorcycles)
• Original Registration File in case of vehicles registered under the “File Return Scheme”
