According to news reports, Pakistan currently faces a housing shortfall of 10 million units. While it can be seen that there are various housing projects sprawling all over the country, most of these are quite high-end when it comes to their price.
Safia Homes is a project in over four cities in Pakistan: Lahore, Faisalabad, and Peshawar. The project has been initiated in a bid to provide good quality housing units, which are also affordable, to most people. These housing projects are designed specifically to cater to those people who want to buy property on a lower budget.
The projects are established by Ansaar Management Company, which has so far constructed five such housing projects in Pakistan. These include affordable housing schemes in Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and two in Lahore. The housing units in each depend on the land acquired and typically range from 600-800 units in one scheme.
Emma Ahmed, Head of Business Development, Ansaar Management Company, said that the housing units are designed specifically catering to people whose overall monthly household income is from PR 15,000 to PKR 50,000. She further added that the houses can be bought on easy instalments that can be spread over twenty years. The loans are planned through House Building Finance Company, which is a trusted partner of Safia Homes.
The project is fully equipped with all amenities needed for a good lifestyle. Each sector has a park, and all houses are designed keeping in view that they are park-facing. This adds to the overall ambiance, adding value to these housing units.
Emma added that all complexes have electricity and gas supply, water supply, water treatment plants, sewerage systems, and solid waste management systems. Apart from this, schools from renowned NGOs such as The Citizens Foundation and Rana Welfare are provided for within the complex. These measures ensure the building of a healthy community system amongst the residents.
Safia Homes is a project that doesn’t only look at creating affordable houses, but takes it further into establishing and strengthening communities. Their programs are designed in such a way so as to account for good communal development, and a system which would ensure sustainability in the up-keep of life within the housing scheme. Emma highlighted how they select a President and Vice President from each housing society, who are then bequeathed with the responsibility in understanding the problems each resident faces, and addressing these adequately.
This flow of communication is a unique feature in these communities and provides alternatives to solving community disputes and problems.
Safia Homes is a unique and noble housing project. This isn’t for investment, but for people who can’t afford houses on their own. We recently received a lot of requests to give an update on this, and we would request our readers to ensure that these projects go for those who can’t afford access to such amenities on their own.
