Let’s suppose you are travelling from the city centre to the suburbs via Raiwind Road, here’s the list of landmarks and intersections you’ll come across during your journey.
Canal Bank Road / Thokar Niaz Baig Flyover
Your journey on the Raiwind Road begins from Canal Bank Road, which is one of the most popular thoroughfares in Lahore, by taking a slight left after crossing the Thokar Niaz Baig Flyover. You’ll have Ali Town and Atchison Colony on your left and Punjab University Employees Housing Scheme on the right. After driving for a few minutes, you’ll be greeted by Ali Town Orange Line Metro Station on Raiwind Road. The road will then slightly curves to the right, leading you to Qazalbash Chowk.
Qazalbash Chowk
At Qazalbash Chowk, you can either turn left or right to get onto Abdul Sattar Edhi Road. The route of Abdul Sattar Edhi Road on the left turn will take you to the University of Punjab and the PIA Housing Scheme. Well, if you plan to continue your journey on Raiwind Road, after crossing the Qazalbash Chowk, you’ll pass through Wapda Town and Iqbal Avenue. Wapda Town will on your left-hand side and Iqbal Avenue will be on your right. After travelling for around 5 kilometres, you’ll be greeted by LDA Avenue One Chowk.
LDA Avenue One Chowk
The LDA Avenue One Chowk is another key intersection on the route of Raiwind Road. If you take the left from here, you’ll get to Khayaban-e-Jinnah and if you go right, you’ll enter LDA Avenue Housing Scheme and start your journey on LDA Avenue One Road.
Going straight onto the Raiwind Road, you continue travelling through many different suburban real estate and infrastructure developments. You’ll also pass through Hudiara Drain via a flyover. Travelling a bit further, you’ll see the Raiwind Road campus of Riphah International University, Lahore, on your left before reaching the Fazaia Interchange and Adda Plot Chowk.
Fazaia Interchange, Lahore Ring Road and Adda Plot Chowk
Raiwind Road connects with Lahore Ring Road at the Fazaia Interchange. You can use this intersection to enter the Block A of the Fazaia Housing Scheme or get onto Lahore Ring Road by taking a left turn. It is one of the most prominent crossroads on the entire route. If you choose to continue travelling on Raiwind Road, you’ll then be greeted by Adda Plot Chowk just a short distance away. It is another very prominent landmark in the peripheries of Lahore. This intersection connects Raiwind Road with Sharif Medical Complex Road and Allama Iqbal Road.
Lake City and Al Kabir Town Entrances
Crossing the Adda Plot Chowk and travelling a bit further, you’ll drive by the entrance of Lake City housing society on your left and, after that, just a few kilometres away you’ll see the gate of Al Kabir Town on your left. These two are among the most sought-after property projects in suburbs. Due to its useful route, Raiwind Road is now home to some of Lahore’s most profitable residential schemes with skyrocketing real estate value.
Raiwind Road also connects you to Bahria Orchard and intersects with the neighbourhood’s central avenue. After this point, your journey on this thoroughfare continues as you go further away from the main city and towards the settlements on the outskirts of Lahore with educational institutions, commercial factories and agricultural land.
Raiwind Bypass Flyover (the Ending Point)
After connecting all the aforementioned key locations from the city centre to suburban Lahore, Raiwind Road ends at Raiwind Bypass Flyover near the locality of Raiwind in Kasur Punjab. It then converts into Raiwind Bypass and links you to many different small towns and villages in the metropolitan area.
