More About the Upcoming Red Line Bus Route in Karachi
According to the official details, the Red Line Metrobus in Karachi will run on two corridors. There will be no traffic on the entire route of the bus service. There will be a total of 24 bus stops, passing through 13 major intersections around the city. The infrastructure of the project also includes 10 overhead bridges and seven underpasses.

Red Line BRT service is based on a 26-km long signal-free corridor. The first corridor of the Red Line bus service will run between Malir Halt, Model Colony, and Numaish Chowrangi. Traffic Plans for Red Line Construction Work
Meetings of KMC officials were held on higher levels to devise alternative traffic routes for vehicles and pedestrians. These measures would prevent traffic congestion during the construction of this metro bus project.
Red Line BRT Karachi Construction Updates
Since June 2022, work on this mass transportation project is rapidly progressing. A large part of the middle of the two-way University Road has become a construction site. The engineers are on site, conducting piling and soil testing of the ground to get it ready for construction.
Red Line BRT construction is being carried out in two phases. One phase covers the Malir to Mosmiyat route, while the other phase extends from Mosmiyat to Tower. Once completed, the bus route is expected to majorly benefit college and university students. Since the entire University Road has many popular educational establishments like KU, NED, and Urdu University, among other facilities.

The authorities started the development work on the Red Line in June 2022. They said that the project would be functional in around 2 to 3 years. Once completed, it would be one of the longest metro bus systems in Pakistan.
