Pakistani citizens – who want to travel outside of the country – are required to be in possession of a valid passport under the Passport Act, 1974. In order to facilitate the citizens, the government has established both executive and regional offices that are present in different corners of every city.

Timings of Passport Offices in Lahore
Passport offices in Lahore are operational in the same hours as any other government offices. Meanwhile, they remain closed on Saturday and Sunday. The operational timings of Lahore’s passport offices are mentioned below:
Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Note: These timings are subject to change as per the decision of Directorate General Immigration and Passports. Some offices operate for 24-hours as well on limited days. Documents and Procedure for Passport Application in Lahore
According to the Passport Act 1974, there are three types of passports in Pakistan currently being issued to the citizens:
- Ordinary
- Diplomatic
- Official
Meanwhile, the procedure for passport application in Lahore remains the same for all three types. Now, let’s take a look at the required documents for the passport application process in Pakistan.
Required Documents for Passport Application
The documents required to apply for a passport in Pakistan are different for both adults and minors. So, if you are an adult, show up at the passport office with the below-mentioned documents:
- 2 photocopies of CNIC or NICOP
- Bank receiving of the prescribed fee deposit
- Foreign passport and its photocopy in case of dual nationality
- No-Objection Certificate (NOC) [ if you are a government employee]
- Original CNIC or NICOP
For Minors
For people under the age of 18 years, the required documents for passport application are listed below:
- Bank receipt of the prescribed fee deposit
- Computerised Registration Certificate (CRC) issued by NADRA
- Original and photocopy of foreign passport [for dual citizens]
- Photocopies of parents’ CNICs
- Two photocopies of birth certificate from NADRA
For Passport Renewal
If you want to renew your existing passport, the documents required for the procedure are:
- Bank receipt of the authorised fee deposit
- Original CNIC
- Old Passport and its photocopy
Procedure for Passport Application in Lahore
Like the rest of Pakistan, the passport application process in Lahore isn’t any different. It is extremely easy and simple. All you need to do is to show up at the passport office with the documents and follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the National Bank counter [available at the passport office] to submit the fee for your passport and acquire the receipt. Next, stopover at Customer Service Counter, and they will issue you a form.
Note: The departments at regional passport offices are divided as per districts. So, you will have to visit the district office you are living in as per your CNIC.
Step 2: Now, an officer will take your picture and issue a unique token number. You will have to wait for your turn. Wait for the screens to show up your token number, then move on to the counter that displays your token number.
Step 3: Submit your biometric data at the counter when your token number is announced.
Step 4: You will now be called to enter your required data into the system, such as name, date of birth, address, profession, etc. If you are renewing your passport, you can request the officers to modify any mistake.
Note: Double-check all the spellings, your address, and data that has been entered into the system.
Step 5: Now, your given details will be cross-checked with the official records of the Exit Control List (ECL) and Black List (BL).
Step 6: You will now be called by the Assistant Director of the Regional Passport Office for a short interview. They will ask a few general questions. Afterwards, you will receive a receipt with the passport tracking number for your application and delivery date.
Step 7: Collect your passport at the given date from the Passport Collection Counter at the Regional Passport Office. You can also get your passport delivered at the doorstep, but you will be charged extra for this additional service.

Fee Structure for Passport in Lahore
Like the rest of Pakistan, the Passport fee in Lahore is charged against the category you are opting for. There are generally two categories of passport:
- Ordinary: Takes up to two weeks to get delivered.
- Urgent: Takes around four days to complete.
The above-mentioned categories are further divided into the duration of their validity. Passports are either valid for 5 years or 10 years in Pakistan. Now, let’s take a look at the charges of passport as per their validity period.
