There are plenty of festivities in Pakistan, but none as anxiously awaited and widely celebrated as airshows arranged by Pakistan Air Force (PAF). These gravity-defying shows are only held on historical occasions to honour the courageous soldiers and to showcase the abilities of the fighter crafts, weapons, drones, and many such assets of Pakistan’s Air Force.
In this blog, we will give you all the details about the upcoming airshow in Karachi and the reason you should be excited to watch it live. But before we begin, here’s a small overview of the contributions of Pakistan Air Force and some interesting facts about them.
Let’s begin!
Interesting Facts about Pakistan Air Force
It is no secret that Pakistan Air Force is counted among the most courageous and strongest air forces in the world. Hence, the force enjoys overwhelming respect and popularity with the masses in Pakistan. The young and highly skilled personnel of PAF have not only defended the country against opponents, but they have also actively participated in rescuing people from natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, and other catastrophes.
No wonder that our soldiers are highly admired, and you can measure this statement with the help of these lesser-known and interesting facts about Pakistan Air Force:
The World’s 10th Strongest Air Force
According to a report released by the International Institute of Strategic Studies in 2017, Pakistan Air Force has the honour to train around 70,000 highly skilled soldiers. The report also stated that the country’s air force has around 951 operational aircraft along with two different types of fighter and surveillance drones to ensure the best and most active aerial defence. All these strengths and ultra-modern assets combined make it the 10th strongest air force in the world.
Most Number of Female Personnel in the Islamic World
Not only is Pakistan Air Force among the strongest army in the world, but it also wears the honour of being the Muslim force with the most number of female soldiers. Although the history of female contributions in state affairs predates the history of Pakistan, at present, the country’s air force has a good number of female combatants who are ever-ready to lay down their guards for the sake of Pakistan’s safety.
Zero Percent Suicide Rate
We can’t deny the fact that suicide among on-duty soldiers remains a bitter and undeniable reality in almost every country in the world. However, Pakistani forces are among some of the highly blessed and courageous forces that have zero percent suicide rate. This reality alone exhibits that Pakistani soldiers are equally strong in both mental and physical terms and extremely prepared for every type of challenge.
Karachi Airshow 2020 – What to Look Forward?
You might know it already, but we’ll repeat again for good measure – an air show is basically a community event that calls for public display of aircraft. Often known as air-fair, this event primarily includes aerobatics demonstrations, which is a practice of aircraft manoeuvres and a few tough aerial tricks. An airshow is a popular form of sport and entertainment, not only in Pakistan but in every country across the world. In addition to keeping the knots tied between public and military, airshows are also organised to thank the local community and to invite people to take an interest in military careers.
Generally, the best time for airshows is between March and November due to the airy season, but air seasons may vary around the world. In Pakistan, however, air shows and flypasts are generally organised to honour the contributions of the Pakistani military and celebrate patriotic occasions like Independence Day, Defence Day, and Pakistan Resolution Day.
Pakistan Air Force keeps on coming with brilliant air shows and aerobatics demonstrations, which gives people an opportunity to marvel at the active fighter jets being used by PAF. During this event, the highly-trained pilots of PAF will cut through the wind and show death-defying performances, leaving the onlookers in complete awe.
