Growth of Pakistan’s IT Exports
With millions of internet users across its entire landscape, Pakistan has become one of the most rapidly developing and technologically aware nations in the world. Not only in urban centres but also in rural areas, many people are now using the latest technologies based on the internet to make a living in the country.
Pakistani vloggers have also become very popular on YouTube in recent years and to everyone’s surprise, many of them hail from rural settlements. Also, there are many internet-based startups operating in different parts of the country. In a nutshell, having access to the online world has become a necessity, especially during the times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This makes it very important for the government and other key stakeholders to work on the current internet infrastructure to enhance its capacity and widen the network of fast-speed internet to facilitate the general public.
According to a recent update, Nayatel, which is a leading internet service provider in Pakistan, has partnered up with the social media giant, Facebook, to provide better internet connectivity across the country.
So, let’s find out how Nayatel and Facebook are working together to enhance 4G/5G broadband speeds based on a vast network of fiber optic cables.
Nayatel and Facebook Connectivity Partnership
Nayatel has detailed its partnership with Facebook in a press release on its official website. According to this press release, both of these tech companies are planning to invest in improving and expanding the fiber broadband network in Pakistan.
Nayatel will be deploying new fiber networks, which are going to serve as an elementary framework for high-speed internet connections based on 4G/5G networks. The expansion of these broadband networks is expected to result in economic growth and the creation of new employment opportunities.
Geographical Reach of the Internet to Improve Significantly in the Country
This partnership of Nayatel with the social media giant will allow it to launch and operate a brand-new fiber network in Pakistan. Under this new fiber network, high-speed broadband internet will be provided to different types of mobile operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) at full capacity.
By 2022, this new high-speed internet infrastructure is envisioned to establish a connection between thousands of sites, thereby improving the geographical reach of the internet. Blazing-fast internet would then be accessible by over 10 to 15 million people living in around 8 major cities of Pakistan
The First-ever Partnership of Facebook With a Pakistani Company
“We’re proud to partner with Nayatel as part of our efforts to bring fast and reliable internet connectivity to people around the world, including in Pakistan,” stated the Head of Connectivity and Access Policy, Asia Pacific, Facebook Tom Varghese. “We look forward to working with Nayatel to enable more open-access fiber infrastructure and note that a progressive and collaborative regulatory environment will help to attract further investments to improve internet connectivity in Pakistan.”
“We’re excited for this first-ever partnership of a Pakistani company with Facebook to expand fiber broadband to bring high-speed internet to millions of customers”, explained the CEO of Nayatel Wahaj us Siraj while speaking about the partnership between the two companies.
Wahab Us Siraj also praised the government’s latest initiatives like Digital Pakistan that are assisting small and medium internet-based businesses and startups to grow and expand their scope. The digitisation of Pakistan aims to boost economic growth and create new job opportunities for aspiring IT professionals.
Note: The aforementioned statements have been fetched from the official press release published on Nayatel’s website.
