Everybody living in Lahore has a love-hate relationship with the city, and it isn’t their fault, since this city has its moods. But this city is home to some pretty cool places that make for a pretty artsy Instagram. Here are ten places in Lahore that are ridiculously Instagrammable and need no filter.
-
Wall of Tolerance: Post the tragic attack on the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, people from the artist community took to painting a wall with a message of love against intolerance. The wall says ‘Inteha Pasandi ab nahi’. The wall is a reminder that this city is beautiful because it is diverse, and the diversity should be loved and protected.
-
Masjid Wazir Khan: Located at the Delhi Gate, this mosque is beautiful and offers a direct contrast to the majesty of the Lahore Fort. Its Qashani tile work is a kaleidoscopic wonder and makes for a beautiful dream, and a stunning picture.
-
Istanbul Chowk: Located just between National College of Arts and Government College University, Istanbul Chowk is a vision for traffic-struck sore eyes. The beautiful birdcages in the tree, and the million pigeons which have made home in them, make for a perfect Instagram. If you manage to catch the pigeons in synchronised flight, you have basically hit Instagram jackpot #Goals
-
Sheesh Mahal: Inside the Lahore Fort is this blinding palace made of mirrors, which makes you question the sanity of Mughal emperors, but also makes you thank them for that perfect background for your selfie.
-
Park Plaza: So before you unsubscribe, go to the top of this humongous plaza, and write us a thank you email. This plaza gives a panoramic view of the whole city, and literally is the best spot to take pictures of Lahore.
-
Fort Road Food Street: The new Food Street is narrow, colourful, lined with gol guppa and gola ganda stalls and is basically a checklist for artsy Instagram picture.
-
Mall Road: The Champs-Elysees of Pakistan, Mall Road is a vision in spring, winter and autumn (it is an absolute nightmare in summer, DO NOT go out playing photographer in summer).
-
Sarak pe karak: This tiny open air chai place in Model Town has a wall with truck art, a very colourful Noor-Jehan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, very interesting to look at and even more so to have on your Instagram.
-
Canal Road: This is probably overshadowed by the Mall Road but the Canal Road of Lahore is just as beautiful and very very Instagrammable.
-
Badhsahi Masjid: *eye roll* As generic as it sounds but Badshahi Masjid is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. It may be commercial now but that does not change the fact that it is one of those few things the Mughals did right for the Instagram generation.
Check these out if you haven’t already, and let us know how #Flawless your pictures came out. If you’ve been here already, let us know if you love, hate or feel a bit of both for them.
