Previously considered a project primarily meant for the journalist community, Media Town has lately started to attract buyers from all walks of life. And despite the fact that it was launched more than 10 years ago by the then Government of Punjab, the society still stands out among its counterparts in the neighbourhood. For all the right reasons, the society is gaining popularity among the end users, and here are the details that might interest you.
Location
Media Town is located on PWD Road, a road avenue that originates from the signal-free Islamabad Expressway and leads all the way to Bahria Town Phase II Main Boulevard. The society shares its neighbourhood with Bahria Town Phase I, II, III, IV, and V, Doctors Cooperative Housing Society, PWD Housing Scheme, Police Foundation Housing Scheme, Soan Gardens, Korang Town, and Accounts Group Officer Cooperative Housing Society.
PWD Road, commonly known as PWD Double Road, is home to some of the town’s best health and education centres, as well as commercial and shopping areas, including restaurants and dining spots.
In terms of the amenities and facilities that serve a large number of people living in the housing societies on this road, residents of Media Town have full access to these facilities.
Project features
The society features residential plots in size of 10 marlas and 5 marlas, but the per marla size here is bigger than the regular marla of many other societies of Islamabad. In other words, the 10-marla and 5-marla plot here are actually 12 marlas and 6 marlas in standard sizing.
In addition to that, dimensions of these plots are also quite reasonable, where the plots have a wider front, making them perfect for accommodating decent floor plans. The society is known best for its security arrangements, where gated, walled and secure premises allow for a completely secure lifestyle. The society’s town plan features wide and spacious roads.
Due to its detailed security arrangement and the fact that the society was developed for the journalists, Media Town is home to some prominent names from Pakistan’s news media. On top of that, the society faces no load shedding and water shortage issues.
Market trends
The locality has been attracting attention due to it being a restricted development for years. With options made available for general buyers, more buyers could enjoy the prime, posh and secure lifestyle the society offered. The fact remains that the ideal plot dimensions here are a bigger reason why many buyers are seen interested in the project.
In addition to that, there are often not many options available for sale.
A look at market price
The demand for plots here has been on the rise for a while, but due to a 100% rise in property transfer fee by the society management, some buyers feel discouraged. Here are the current market prices of residential plots in Media Town.
Plot size | Price range in PKR |
10-marla | 7,000,000 – 12,000,000 |
5-marla | 5,000,000 – 6,500,000 |

recently Media town was in the list of unauthorized societies..any update on this ?
No, i haven’t come across such news.
dear madam,,a management personnel of media town told me that 10 marla plot is above 8 million and there is no plot in 7 million range..please guide.
The price of plot ranges between 7 to 12 million. Lower price is for plots at bad locations and if no such plot is available for sale, you have to go for the ones with higher price tags. Plot owners here don’t bend down on rates, so negotiation will be tough.
