The road network of Karachi — Pakistan’s largest city — spreads miles and miles across its sprawling metropolitan area. It is based on some very important two-way roads, expressways and signal-free corridors used by millions of people every day to commute to work or just move around the megacity. Named after “Korangi” one of Karachi’s most prominent localities, Korangi Road also has a very important role to play in helping ease the traffic flow in the city.

Korangi Road, Karachi, Route Guide: Infrastructure Features & Entry/Exit Points
Here we’ll discuss everything about the route of Korangi Road in Karachi. We’ll talk about its major intersections and infrastructure features that’ll help you easily navigate through it.
Intersection with Shahrah-e-Faisal (Starting Point)
To begin your journey on Korangi Road in Karachi, you need to take a left turn near the FTC building at Shahrah-e-Faisal if you are coming from the PECHS or KAECHS side. Likewise, if you are heading from Saddar, you’ll also have to take a slight left turn and get onto a flyover. This flyover will end at the beginning of Korangi Road near the NIC Building. Gora Qabristan, which has a huge cross sign installed at its entrance, is also a very popular landmark on this section of the road.
Intersection Near CSD Market
The very first intersection that greets you on Korangi Road comes after just a few seconds’ drive. If you go left from here, you get onto the Muslim Society road. You can also take a u-turn from here to enter the CSD Supermarket and Food Street or for getting back onto the FTC flyover. The incoming traffic from Kalapul Road also joins Korangi Road from this intersection near CSD Supermarket. You’ll also find a PSO fuel station on your left right after the traffic signal.
Intersection Near National Medical Centre (NMC)
As soon as you cross the very famous Kala Pul, you reach the crossroads with a traffic signal near the National Medical Centre (NMC) — one of the area’s most popular hospitals. Mahmoodabad Road will be on your left and Arif Road will be on your right. You’ll also find a Shell refuelling station in the immediate vicinity of the NMC.
From this intersection, you enter the jurisdiction of the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) and DHA Karachi. Travelling through this part of the road, DHA Phase 1 will be on your left and DHA Phase 2 will be on your right. You can also spot the massive dome and minarets of Karachi’s very famous Tooba Masjid on the other side of the road. Just from the next traffic light, another PSO fueling station will come on your left.
Intersection with N Circular Ave. and 2nd South St.
Upon reaching this intersection you can take a left turn to get onto N Circular Avenue, which will take you further into the DHA Phase 1 or you can go right onto the 2nd South Street that’ll lead you to DHA Phase 2. Two of the noteworthy landmarks of this intersection are McDonald’s and Shell Refueling Station, which will be on your left- and right-hand side, respectively.
Defence Morr Crossroads
The next crossroads that’ll greet you while travelling on Korangi Road is called “Defence Morr.” It is marked by a heart-shaped Solidary Monument that adds to the beauty of the intersection. On your left, there will be a service lane with many prominent landmarks including Goldmark Shopping Mall and NADRA Mega Centre Korangi Road Branch, among other facilities. You can easily access this service lane by taking a slight left turn just a short distance away from Defence Morr.
Intersection with Khayaban-e-Ittehad (Former Axact Chowrangi)
After crossing a pedestrian bridge near Goldmark Shopping Mall, you reach the intersection of Korangi Road and Khayaban-e-Ittehad. From here, you can either take a right turn to enter the locality of DHA Phase 7 via Khayaban-e-Ittehad, a u-turn to get back to Defence Morr and beyond or head straight to continue your journey on Korangi Road to KPT Interchange.
Quick Fact: Part of a well-established road network in DHA Karachi, Khayaban-e-Ittehad has one of the longest and most important routes in the area, connecting Korangi Road, all the way to Sea View Beach.
KPT Interchange Flyovers
One of the most prominent infrastructure features of Korangi Road is KPT Interchange. It is based on multiple flyovers, helping traffic to get onto different roads. It is also where Korangi Road meets Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway, which is also a very prominent route for commuters in the megacity.
This intersection connects multiple roads, such as Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway, Korangi Creek Road and the main Korangi Road. Centre Point, which is one of the tallest buildings in Karachi, is also located near the KPT Interchange. Other prominent facilities in the vicinity include Imtiaz Supermarket, Kababjees Bakers Mart and Salma Supermarket.
Beginning of Korangi Industrial Area
Once you cross the KPT Interchange Flyover and the very famous Jam Sadiq Bridge constructed over the Malir River, you enter the Korangi Industrial Area, which is one of the busiest and largest industrial areas in Karachi. A lot of heavy traffic moves on this road in the after hours.
Many prominent leather factories and large food industries like Shan Foods and English Biscuits Manufacturers (Pvt.) Ltd. have a presence here. Continuing your journey on the main Korangi Road, you’ll pass through many prominent intersections in the Korangi Industrial Area, such as Brooks Chowrangi, Shan Chowrangi, Indus Chowrangi, Bilal Chowrangi Murtaza Chowrangi, and Dawood Chowrangi, among other smaller crossroads.
Yunus Chowrangi (Ending Point)
After crossing Dawood Chowrangi, which intersects with Landhi Road, the very famous intersection known as Yunus Chowrangi greets you. It is named after the Yunus Textile Mill, which is also located in the vicinity. This intersection will connect you to YB Chowrangi Road that’ll further lead you to National Highway 5 if you take a left turn and Mehran Highway if you head right. Yunus Chowrangi marks the end of the super-long journey of Korangi Road, all the way from Shahrah-e-Faisal.
