The Punjab Police has reportedly launched a new app that will allow the residents of the province to check criminal records of their tenants, domestic help and employees with a few taps on their mobile screen. All they’ll need to do is download the newly launched ‘Karobar Aitemad App’ to their smartphones, enter the computerized national identity card (CNIC) number of the individual whose record they want to trace, and then search their details.
This app will not only allow employers and landlords to make a well-informed decision about the persons they want to hire or rent out their home to but will also ensure their safety. As per the reports published in media outlets, whether an individual has a record or has a case or inquiry pending against them in any city across the province, the Punjab Police app will be able to check criminal records online and identify them.
Once the information is processed, the citizens will receive an SMS with details about the criminal record. The authorities will also follow it up with necessary action.
Tenant and Employee Registration
The law requires residents to register their tenants, domestic help, and employees with the police so that the law enforcement agencies have information about all the individuals living and working in the neighbourhood.
Presently, the citizens have to complete the registration process in person through the Punjab Police Khidmat Markaz, where they are required to submit the CNIC photocopies of both parties, photographs of the person who is being registered, and an affidavit among other documents.
Though the current process is already pretty straightforward, the Punjab Police has made it even more convenient and hassle-free through the Karobar Aitemad App. Along with carrying out a criminal record check by CNIC, the app will also enable employers and homeowners to register their workers and tenants with the police.
Speaking to the media, DIG Operations Punjab Sohail Sukhera, who also serves as the Punjab Police Information Officer (PPIO), said the Karobar Aitemad app rapidly displays the information about one’s criminal records using their CNIC number. He further added that the Punjab Police app will soon be available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, until then, the citizens will be able to download it from the Punjab Police official website.
The launch of Karobar Aitemad app is the latest measure to make Punjab the safest and most secure province in Pakistan.
The Government of Punjab has also set up Citizen Facilitation and Service Centres, more commonly referred to as e-Khidmat Markaz, to facilitate the residents by significantly reducing the number of steps previously required to apply for a birth certificate, a domicile, an identity card, a death certificate, and a marriage certificate among other documents through their one-window operation.
