Speaking of which, the modern history of Jilani Park starts from 3rd October 1985. Jilani Park was originally named Race Course Park and was previously exclusively used to host Polo, but after it was renamed, the park was opened to the general public as well.

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Lahore, announced on 20th February 2020 that the spring celebrations in the city will kick off with a Dog Show as part of Jashan-e-Baharan from 29th February 2020. However, due to unforeseen weather conditions, the official inauguration of the event couldn’t take place, and it is now scheduled to commence from 2nd March 2020.
Revealing the attractions at the event, the Marketing Director of PHA Dr Rabia Riasat said that Jilani Park festival would host more than 15 colourful and fun-filled activities, and the festival itself will continue till Pakistan Day on 23rd March 2020. Assuring the safety and security of attendees, the marketing director added, “PHA has made foolproof security arrangements for this free annual festival in Lahore”.
Commenting on the prominence of this annual festival, Chairman PHA Engineer Yasir Gillani said, “The annual festival is a gift for citizens of Lahore and adjoining areas”.
As per details revealed by the officials, the surroundings of the Canal Road will be decorated with colourful lights to engage and attract attendees and announce the advent of the new season. According to the schedule issued by the PHA, the event will commence in Jilani Park but will be followed by several events across the city. Here are a few highlights:
- Mural Painting Competition – which is also a part of this event – will take place in several colleges around the city on 4th March 2020.
- A Cat Show will take place in Jilani Park on 8th March 2020.
- Another event showcasing Pakistani culture and women would take place in Township on 8th March.
As mentioned by the officials, the event will not only engage the citizens of Lahore but will also attract people from nearby towns and cities, providing people the novel opportunity to gather at one place and celebrate the advent of spring most festively and refreshingly.

What to Expect from Jashan-e-Baharan, Lahore 2020?

How to Get to Jashan-e-Baharan in Lahore?
We have mentioned it quite a few times in this blog, but we’ll repeat it again for good measure. The 2020 edition of Jashan-e-Baharan in Lahore will take place in Jilani Park or locally known as Race Course Park. Reaching this place from any part of the city is quite easy. If you’re travelling by road, it takes around 30-minutes to reach the park from Paragon City. On the other hand, if you are coming from another city by air, it will only take a 40-minute drive from Allama Iqbal International Airport to reach the park.
Latest Updates on Jashan-e-Baharan in Lahore
On 2nd March 2020, the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar along with several officials including Minister Housing Mian Mehmood Ur Rasheed and Chairman PHA Yasir Gilani have successfully carried out the opening ceremony of the spring festival in Lahore.
During the ceremony, the CM Punjab addressed the crowd and said, “I, wholeheartedly welcome all the attendees to this festival and I would like to congratulate the team of PHA for organizing such an event”. The speech was followed by several other rituals including the live performance of famous Pakistani artist, Abrar Ul Haq.
