Jalozai Housing Scheme in Nowshera is another low-cost housing project for the lower-income class which is another extension of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.
Let us look at all the details of the housing project that have been released so far at this point in time.
Key Facts About Jalozai Housing Scheme
It is one of the visions of the prime minister to provide shelters to the needy and low-income class. It is impossible for any government to give free of cost houses to its people but what it can do is provide houses at subsidized prices. Naya Pakistan Housing Programme is the first-of-its-kind project that has been launched by the Government of Pakistan at a massive scale. For its success, surveys were conducted to gauge the interest of people in peri-urban schemes, and only after receiving a positive response, this step was taken.
A peri-urban housing scheme is a residential project located in close vicinity or adjacent to a city or an urban area. To make Jalozai Housing Scheme a low-cost project, the government has used its own land so that no additional money related to purchasing private land has to be spent.
The project is being carried out by the provincial government but under the banner of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme. Although not solely, the Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is sharing a huge chunk of responsibilities with the federal government. At this point, only the first phase of this project has been launched that includes the construction of vertical buildings on a few thousand kanals but at a later stage, this residential project will be expanded.
Size Of Jalozai Housing Scheme
The Naya Pakistan Housing Programme will be launched across the country. As such, the government is constructing vertical buildings that will not only conserve space but also increase the number of units that can be developed on the same land.
As mentioned earlier, this is the first phase of the project so, initially, 1,320 apartments will be constructed on a total land of 9,800 kanals. Larte, this project will be expanded and more apartments will be constructed. Each apartment building will consist of four floors but details related to the design of these residential buildings or the size of units have not been disclosed yet.
Location Of The Housing Scheme
The project is being developed on government-owned land in the city of Nowshera in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The exact location of the project is still unknown but it is for sure that it will be very close to the city.
Cost Of Jalozai Housing Scheme
In an attempt to give less fortunate citizens a chance to have a house that they can call their own, these apartment buildings are constructed at the lowest possible costs while maintaining the standard of quality living and ensuring the provision of basic facilities. The exact cost of the project and the size of the units are not known at this point. However, there are some details that were shared by the prime minister.
Since these units are meant for people hailing from low-income backgrounds, the government has taken every step and made every effort to reduce the cost of these residential units. For this, the land has been provided by the provincial government while a subsidy of PKR 300,000 has been given by the federal government. In addition to this, the government with the help of banks has locked the interest rate at 3% in order to bring the cost as low as possible. All these efforts will result in low monthly instalment so that it doesn’t burden the pocket of a low-income person.
Who Can Book An Apartment Jalozai Housing Scheme?
As mentioned earlier in the blog the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme is a well-planned scheme for which surveys were conducted prior to launching it. Based on the response received, the locations have been chosen for the construction. There is a set criterion for the eligibility of applying for a residential unit in the Jalozai Housing Scheme and only people with a monthly income of up to PKR 40,000 can apply.
