One of the leading universities of Pakistan, Iqra University (IU) signed an agreement with Bahria Town on the 17th of January, 2020, to open up a state-of-the-art campus in the community. Signing Ceremony of Iqra University’s Campus in Bahria Town, Karachi
Iqra University signed an agreement with the Bahria Town management to officially launch its campus in the housing community. On 17th of January, 2020, the Founding Chancellor of IU, Mr. Hunaid Lakhani attended the signing ceremony along with Vice-Chancellor Dr Wasim Qazi, Dr. Kamran Raza, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Ms Kaif Ghaznavi, who is the Head of Department (HoD) of the Media Science Department, Dr Zaki Rashidi, who is the Director of Offices of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), and Dr. Daniel Wesley Lund, who is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at IU.
The agreement was signed between Mr. Lakhani and Bahria Town Karachi’s Senior General Manager Brigadier (Retired) Khalid Mahmood, while the meeting was attended by Bahria Town’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ali Riaz Malik, via video conferencing, where he addressed the gathering and was happy that Bahria Town was beginning the New Year with a milestone development in the educational sector. He also hopes that the new campus will not only perform an exemplary role in Pakistan’s educational sector but will also cater to the need of the locals for high-quality education.
Meanwhile, the university’s management had stated that this will be the first campus in Pakistan where all the faculty will comprise foreign faculty members holding high-level degrees, preferably PhDs. The Vice-Chancellor Dr Wasim Qazi also informed the guests gathered at the signing ceremony that 15 foreign faculty members had already been hired for the new campus. Mr. Lakhani also pointed out that Dr. Daniel Wesley Lund will be the Dean for the new campus.
Dr. Daniel Wesley Lund holds a PhD in Human Resources from Griffith University, Australia, and has served as a Dean for numerous universities across the globe, in Saudi Arabia, China, the Solomon Islands, Kazakhstan, Mexico, and Australia. Iqra University’s new campus aims to remain committed to the mission of providing high-quality education in Pakistan with graduate and postgraduate degrees being offered in the field of health sciences, media sciences, information technology, business administration, and fashion design.

Iqra University’s medical and nursing school will feature a patient-centric curriculum, elective modules, as well as an early exposure to a clinical and hospital environment.
The IU campus in Bahria Town, Karachi, is being built right next to the Grand Jamia Mosque, over 200 acres, to accommodate around 800,000 individuals. This places the university within Precinct 12, at a 10 minutes’ drive from the main gate of the society.
