The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has announced the schedule for Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT). The aptitude test helps students seek HEC scholarships and admissions to master’s and MPhil programs in recognized universities.
Students seeking scholarship awards and admissions can take the HAT via the Education Testing Council (ETC) which has a difficulty level equivalent to the international GRE. There are four different categories for HAT and students can check the HEC website to confirm the category they need to apply for.
HAT 1: Students applying for engineering and technology disciplines shall take HAT 1.
HAT 2: HAT 2 is for students applying for management sciences and business education.
HAT 3: Students seeking scholarships or master’s admission for arts and humanities or social sciences need to apply for HAT 3.
HAT 4: HAT 4 is for students applying for agriculture & veterinary sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences and physical sciences.
The deadline to apply for HAT is September 12, 2022 while the tentative date for the examination is September 25, 2022. HEC has registered centres which will conduct the test. However, your desired venue may change if the registered candidates fall below 250. Tests will be conducted at:

Location of HEC Office in Islamabad
Just like passport offices in Islamabad, HEC Islamabad is counted among the important institutions in the Federal Capital of Pakistan. Situated adjacent to Excise and Taxation Department, Islamabad, the headquarters of the Higher Education Commission, is in Sector H-9, Islamabad.
It is strategically positioned on Service Road, just a few km away from Islamabad Expressway and Islamabad Railway Station. On the other hand, Kashmir Highway is stretched near the northwestern end of the Service Road.
The area is dotted with bus stations, so finding public transport near HEC Islamabad wouldn’t be a problem. H-9 Bus Stop and Khayaban-e-Johar Metro Bus Station are near the eastern division of this organisation; meanwhile, Sunday Market Bus Stop is located near the western end of the Service Road.
