DCO House and Mumtaz ground roads both link Faiz Mahal directly to the National Highway 5.
National Highway 5 is also the fastest route that can get you to the location of Faiz Mahal, Khairpur if you’re travelling from Karachi (via the route of M-9 Motorway) and Hyderabad. It is one of those historical attractions in Sindh that are conveniently linked to the expressways and highways. The very famous Kot Diji Fort of Sindh is also 30-min drive away from this royal complex.
It will be around 6.5 hours drive from Karachi and 4.5 hours drive from Hyderabad. The timing of your trip may depend on the flow of traffic along the route. M-9 Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway usually remains packed with traffic during weekends.
History of Faiz Mahal
Built by the famous ruler of the time, Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur in 1798, Faiz Mahal is a magnificent palace. It was chiefly constructed to serve as the sovereign’s court, which was later turned into the royal residence of the Talpur monarchs. It is among those historical attractions in Sindh that proudly boast Mughal architecture.
The principal building of this historical attraction in Sindh served as the sovereign court for the Talpurs. Royal guests from different parts of the region visited Faiz Mahal, Khairpur throughout its history.
Time had taken its toll on this magnificent historical structure. This is why the authorities decided to undertake a grand restoration project to give this wondrous landmark in Sindh a second life. The renovation work was completed in 2011 to revive the glory of this centuries-old palace.

Features of Faiz Mahal
There is no doubt in the fact that Faiz Mahal is a symbol of architectural excellence. The veranda arches of the royal complex are strategically constructed, allowing long-shot views of the fields outside. The corridors of the palace exhibit symmetric perfection, especially when sunlight makes its way through the arches.
The garden with beautiful flowers and plants was once the stable of royal elephants and horses known as the ‘Haathi Khana’. As discussed, there are also antique guns within the courtyard of the palace. All these features of Faiz Mahal make it one of the most intriguing historical landmarks in Sindh.

Like many popular historical sites in Sindh, the Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) also supports and promotes tourism at this historic palace of the Talpur Dynasty. It is now home to the last descendants of the Talpur family. The locals in Khairpur district also recognise this royal complex as ‘Lal Bangla’.
