Digitization of Urban Land Record System
To significantly promote transparency in the real estate sector and facilitate the stakeholders serving the industry, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is working on the digitization of the urban land record management system.
It has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Survey of Pakistan (SoP)—a government-run national surveying and mapping organization. This initiative desirably promotes the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to digitize land record management across the entire country. Land records maintained digitally will play a vital role in terms of effective planning towards the residential requirements of the general public. It will also help the authorities to desirably address the shortfall of supply against the growing housing needs of the nation.
According to the recently signed MoU, a team of experts of the Survey of Pakistan (SoP) has been tasked to survey and digitally map the entire landscape of the Islamabad Capital Territory. The result of this activity will be digitized data, which will then be used by CDA in terms of planning and development of the capital city.
Furthermore, the experts of SoP will also train CDA staff members to use advanced mapping technologies including Global Positioning (GPS) and Geographical Information (GIS) Systems. The training will be conducted at the Survey Training Institute (STI) in Islamabad.
Online Payment of CDA Dues
Partnering with the commercial banks serving locally, the Capital Development Authority will now allow the residents of the capital to pay for different types of dues online. It’s an extremely noteworthy initiative in terms of digitization of CDA and is in line with the government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ campaigns launched nationwide.
People living in the city will now enjoy the convenience of paying property taxes, different types of service, and utility charges from the comfort of home. The CDA online payment option will now be available on all the websites and mobile applications of commercial banks that are providing the services of 1Bill powered by 1Link.
Services of City Islamabad App by ICTA
Supporting the efforts of the authorities regarding the digitization of CDA, the Islamabad Capital Territory Authority (ICTA) has also taken a very big step, taking the concept of e-governance in the capital metropolis to a whole new level. It has launched the City Islamabad App, a fully-featured mobile platform to facilitate the residents of the capital in a variety of ways.
City Islamabad App is available on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store and can be downloaded for free. This application features ICT services, E-police services, online accessibility to the Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad, CDA services, a dedicated ‘City Guide’ section among other e-services.
The ‘City Guide’ section in the application comprises emergency numbers, routes of Islamabad Metrobus, and information on the available healthcare facilities.
