It’s a success achieved as a result of the joint collaboration of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) and the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA). This digital platform has been designed to provide residents of the Islamabad Capital Territory with instant access to a number of e-government services, omitting the need of visiting public offices in person. City Islamabad App – An Overview
Launched on March 3, 2020, the application is now fully functional and can be downloaded on Android smartphones. Praising this newly launched mobile e-portal, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafqat said that the residents of the city can now register vehicles or apply for different types of documents/licenses instantly through the ‘City Islamabad App’ instead of visiting public offices and waiting in long queues for hours. He further said that upon getting feedback from users, the functionality of the app will be further improved with the addition of more new features.
Some of the key highlights of City Islamabad App include the availability of e-services by institutions like NADRA, CDA, Excise and Taxation Department, and the Capital City Police. Moreover, the e-payment mechanism for utility bills has also been integrated into the application. How to Download City Islamabad App
The application is currently available only on the Google Play Store, which means only Android users can use it for now. However, its developers are still working on the app’s iOS version, which is expected to be available soon. Now, let’s take a look at the steps below:
- Simply go to the Google Play Store
- Search for ‘City Islamabad App’
- Check if the logo of the application you have searched for matches with the above-given illustration. If it does, download it to your smartphone.
Note: Check for the specified software and system requirements for a smoother experience of the Islamabad City app. The application may only consume 13-15 megabytes of your phone’s storage.
How to Use City Islamabad App
Below is your step-by-step guide to using the ‘City Islamabad App’.
First of all, you need to sign up for the application, for which you’ll be filling up the fields shown in the screenshot above.
Upon filling in the details, you’ll receive a verification code by Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) via email and SMS, which you need to fill simultaneously on the screen shown above to verify your account on the app.
Once you have signed up, you’ll then need to log in to your account with the help of your CNIC number and password.
After you log in, you will land on the ‘Dashboard’ of the Islamabad City app with all the necessary options.
You can also drag open the app menu on the top-left corner of the screen to see additional options. This was about the functionality and usage of the app, now let’s learn more about the features of this e-portal and how it is going to facilitate the residents of Islamabad.

- Domicile: It allows people to apply for a new domicile or verify your current domicile for Islamabad.
- International Driving Permit: You can also apply for an international driving permit using the app.
- Arms License Verification Service: The app provides you the facility of one-touch verification of all the weapons you possess.
- Court Cases Service: It allows users to get updates about any active court cases registered in their names.
- Marriage Certificate: The app provides the facility to apply for a marriage certificate online instead of going through the manual procedures.
- Fard: This service allows the users to fetch records pertaining to the land ownership for a particular property online.
- Smart Card/CNIC Application: Apply for a Smart Card/National Identity Card at NADRA e-portal through this app.
- Passport Service: You can get your passport renewed at NADRA e-portal through this app.
- ICT Department Service: You can take an appointment with your concerned ICT Department online instead of standing in queues.
E-police
Online Reporting of All Types of Incidents: By using the Islamabad City app, you’ll be able to report all types of incidents to your local police stations for the authorities to take action. The city app facilitates you to report the following incidents:

More About National Information Technology Board (NITB)
The merger of the Pakistan Computer Bureau (PCB) and Electronic Government Directorate (EGD) resulted in the formation of the National Information Technology Board (NITB). The merger took place under the supervision of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT).
The NITB specialises in assisting the government departments and ministries with the technological and operational challenges faced by them. The board is responsible to provide services like design, development, automation, implementation, and maintenance of different types of digital platforms for promoting the concept of e-governance in Pakistan.
