After Islamabad, the cadastral mapping of Lahore will also be live soon. Babar Hayat Tarar, a senior member of the Board of Revenue, said that the cadastral map of Lahore would be ready by the end of December 2021. While the map will be used by real estate buyers and sellers, it will also be used for the identification of state-owned land and mapping plot numbers.
There are two phases of the process: the first phase includes replacing khasra numbers of plots and land with digits (1, 2, 3). All houses in the city will be given unique numbers and each residential or commercial plaza will be given a single number. Separate numbers as identities will be given to flats and shops in these residential and commercial buildings to avoid any discrepancies in the cadastral map.
Once the cadastral mapping of Lahore is complete, the khasra number system will be obsolete and redundant and a similar process will be repeated for other cities of the province.
