The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also known as KPK, or simply KP, wanted to create one central facility within the province to issue new driving licences to prevent scammers from issuing fake licences to the citizens. Peshawar is the capital city of the province and hence, it made perfect sense to endow it with a one-window facility for issuing a driving licence in KPK. Let’s guide you on how to get a KPK Driving Licence from the City Traffic Police, Peshawar.
How to Apply for a Driving Licence in KPK?
While driving licence renewal services are being offered in every region/city of KPK, Peshawar is where you can apply for a new driving licence in KPK. Here are some of the services being offered by City Traffic Police, Peshawar for licencing of legal drivers:

- Permanent Licence
- Licence Renewal

Let’s discuss each of these services below in detail, along with how you can avail them.
Learner’s Permit
Any individual above the age of 18 can apply for a learning licence in KPK with the following documents:
- Copy of CNIC of the concerned individual
- Medical Form signed by an authorised doctor
- Fee Deposit Slip
Procedure
- Take the above-given documents to the licencing centre.
- Fill a form with your CNIC number, Name, Type of Licence (Motor Car, Motor Cycle, LTV, HTV, etc.), Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Present Address, and more.
- Go for the medical check-up for your blood group, height, weight, and eyesight.
- Get your picture taken on the spot.
- Verify all of the details that you have provided to the concerned official.
- The learner’s permit will be printed upon verification.
Fees
You will need to pay anywhere from PKR 125 to PKR 250 for a learner’s permit in the province.
Permanent Licence
You will have to pass a test after at least 42 days of getting a learner’s permit to convert the document into a permanent driving licence in KPK. Here are the documents you’ll need:
- Copy of your CNIC
- Original Learner’s Permit
- Medical Form
- Fee Deposit Slip
- Signed Test Page (confirming that you’ve passed it)
Procedure
- Visit the licencing centre to register for the test.
- Pass the medical examination and fill the required form.
- A printed page will then be issued, which will contain the date, time, and the location of the driving test.
- Once you pass the test, you need to go through biometric and signature verification at the licencing centre.
- Then a receipt will be provided to you to collect the driving permit at a certain date.
Fees
This process of applying for a driving licence in KPK can cost between PKR 600 and PKR 1,200. Please note that a separate fee will have to be paid for the test and will need to be repaid for every attempt at passing the driving test.
Licence Renewal
Here are the documents that you will need to renew your expired KPK driving licence:
- Copy of CNIC
- Medical Form
- Expired Licence
- Fee Deposit Slip
Procedure
- Submit the form filled with your required details at the licencing centre.
- Don’t forget to attach all of the required documents as well.
Duplicate Licence
If your driving licence has been lost or stolen, you will need to visit the licencing centre with the following documents to get a duplicate driving permit issued in your name:
- Copy of your CNIC
- A legal stamp paper
- FIR of the licence being lost
- Fee Deposit Slip
Procedure
- Fill the form for issuance of a duplicate licence.
- Submit the form and the documents at the licencing centre to get your driving permit.
